Work-Family Conflict and Enrichment: The Role of Support and Satisfaction
Uma Bhowon, University of Mauritius, Mauritius
The study investigated the relationship of support (supervisory and family) as predictors and work and family satisfaction as outcome of work-family conflict and work-family enrichment. Work-family balance was represented by the relationship between work-family conflict and work-family enrichment. Data was collected from 127 married, full time working women, employed in a range of organizations representing various occupational groups. The data was analyzed using correlations and hierarchical regression analysis. Results showed a significant, main effect of supervisory support and work-family enrichment and a significant interaction effect of supervisory support and family-work conflict on work satisfaction. Additionally, there was a significant, main effect of family support, family-work enrichment and work-family enrichment on family satisfaction. A significant, negative interaction effect between supervisory support and work-family conflict on family satisfaction was also found. Keywords: Work family conflict, Enrichment, Support
